Run and NOT Grow Weary

Isaiah 40:27-31

Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”?

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

I find it interesting how the human condition carries on from generation to generation. Isaiah 40 was written more than 2700 years ago, and yet it is conveying how the people of Israel seem to be complaining and feeling like God is not looking out for them.

The prophet has to convince them that God is still watching and reminds them that He Is The Creator. He doesn't get tired and He has a plan far beyond what we could possibly understand.

During this fast I have seemed to hit a fatigue point a bit earlier than in years past. I probably would not classify myself as a "youth," Today was not a good day for my personal energy.

My morning started great as I got out with Boston (My Black Lab) for a nice, brisk power walk, which I thought would start my day off strong. Boy, was I wrong!

But even though it would be easy to ask questions like, "God, can't you give me some supernatural energy? Can't you supply me with strength for today?" I am not asking those questions. Why? Because I settled my understanding of God a long time ago. I have come to the firm foundation that God is God and I am not. His ways are higher than my ways, His thoughts are higher than my thoughts (also in Isaiah by the way 55:9).

So if He chooses to let me feel tired and weary, and even if He allows me to stumble and fall, I will trust in Him. I will embrace the weariness and I will look for His best. Yes, even from the ground after I fall. Why can I be so positive in weariness? If you've read verse 31 then you probably know, but if you just skimmed over it, here it is again. Read it, Believe it and Plant your Faith Firmly on This Verse.

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
